Contains 36 booster packs. Each booster contains 15 cards(1 rare, 3 uncommon, 9 common, 2 land). Much like Portal, the Starter set was aimed at new players. Unlike Portal, however, this set works with the main game rules, where Portal renamed some things and changed some rules to make the game simpler. With Starter, Wizards of the Coast removed artifacts, enchantments, and the majority of instants. This means you get creatures, lands, sorceries, and counterspell instants only. This simplification keeps the game centered on the creature and sorcery game while avoiding timing rules almost completely.
